MR LATVIA is starting an important collaboration phase with a two-day working meeting at CNRS–CRMN in Lyon, France, taking place on 21–22 January 2026—bringing together scientists, engineers, and facility staff to advance solid-state NMR research and align operational workflows.
Scientific program first: data, analysis, and simulations
The scientific sessions are led by Dr. Alons Lends. On 21 January, the focus is on ¹H-detected solid-state NMR spectral analysis of VLP and TTR proteins, together with ¹⁹F spectra simulations performed with Alvis. On 22 January, the work continues with detailed NMR data discussions with Guido and Alvis, consolidating interpretation approaches and defining the next analytical steps.
Engineering and operations: building the support system
On the technical and engineering side, Ruslans Muhamadejevs is working closely with CNRS–CRMN Lyon engineers to strengthen the foundations of MR LATVIA’s user support model. A key focus is the User Support System, including how staff roles are distributed across the NMR data acquisition workflow—from organizing responsibilities during data collection to ensuring smooth coordination of tasks and user interaction. The team is also reviewing safety and access procedures, reinforcing clear entry rules, training expectations, and safe operation in a high-field NMR environment.
Facility walkthrough: infrastructure, maintenance, and automation
The program includes a facility walkthrough with an NMR laboratory demonstration and practical introductions to essential infrastructure. Discussions cover cryogenic refilling systems, the configuration of NMR spectrometers, and the maintenance responsibilities of facility staff, including defined procedures and roles for magnet upkeep. The team also explores automation systems supporting monitoring, reliability, and efficient routine operations.
This Lyon meeting sets MR LATVIA into active motion—combining high-level scientific exchange with hands-on technical alignment—and supports shared operational understanding for the work ahead.
We wish the MR LATVIA Team good luck and a productive week!
